Kelly’s practice focuses on business law and commercial real estate, which she complements with an in-depth knowledge of tax, estate and trust planning for business owners. As the firm’s Managing Partner, Kelly oversees all aspects of the firm’s operations, giving her a comprehensive understanding of the business and legal needs of her clients.

In her practice, Kelly serves a broad cross section of industries including construction, aviation, health care and sports and recreation. She offers advice on structuring, financing, buying and selling businesses, the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts and the many other legal issues that arise from day-to-day operations. As a member of both the Ontario and New York bars, she regularly advises clients on cross border matters. Kelly served for several years on the American Bar Association’s Deal Points Study working group, which analyzes trends in Canadian mergers and acquisitions.

Kelly also has extensive experience in commercial real estate transactions, financing, leasing and development. She works for developers, owners, investors, builders and lenders and has acted on many large commercial projects throughout Eastern Ontario. These projects include office, industrial and retail developments, conference and hotel facilities, sports and recreation facilities, retirement facilities, public/private partnerships and infrastructure and residential freehold and condominium developments.

Kelly is a member of the Board of the Ottawa Chapter of the Young President’s Organization and is the chapter membership officer. In 2007, Kelly was selected as one of Ottawa’s Forty Under 40 by the Ottawa Business Journal and in 2008, Ottawa Life magazine profiled Kelly as one of its Top 50 People in the Capital. Carleton University has named Kelly as one of its Great Grads. Kelly has served as a mentor and/or instructor at Algonquin College, the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association, the University of Ottawa Law School and Carleton University. She is an member of the St Patrick’s Home of Ottawa Foundation Leaders ‘n Pearl and is also a member of a number of professional and industry associations and has been an active volunteer and director of numerous organizations dedicated to youth programs. Kelly recently served as a member of the Board of Governors of Algonquin College and was the Chair of the Audit and Risk Management Committee.
