Michael Leaver

Michael practices in the areas of residential and commercial real estate, and regularly advises clients on a wide range of corporate and not-for-profit matters.

Michael is an associate in the firm's business law group. He practices in the areas of residential and commercial real estate, and regularly advises clients on a wide range of corporate matters including asset and share transactions, corporate re-financings, corporate re-organizations and commercial leases. Whether he is advising a corporate clients on a $25M credit facility or helping an individual buying their first home, Michael is dedicated to providing his clients with service and personal attention that is second to none.

Michael has also developed a reputation for his knowledge and understanding of Not-For-Profit governance and the new Not-For-Profit legislation. He has advised many national and local Not-For-Profit organizations and charities on their transition to the new federal legislation and regularly reviews and revises by-laws to best suit the needs of an organization.

Michael received his LL.B. from the University of Ottawa in 2010 and an Honours Degree in Social Sciences from the University of Ottawa in 2004. Before becoming a lawyer, Michael had a varied work background including several positions with the federal government including most recently working as a Policy and Research Analyst at the Department of Justice.

Originally from the small town of Madoc, Michael now lives in Kanata with his wife where he enjoys home renovation projects, travelling and playing any and all sports.
